“I didn’t ask you to protect my virtue, Sam,” I snap back,
and then I find myself forced up against the wall, in much the same way Luke
was, only Sam’s fingers are digging into the tops of my arms and his face is
just inches from mine. Close enough to feel his warm breath on my face. Close
enough to kiss, if only I could find the courage to lean in.
“You should be begging me to protect your virtue, Little,”
Sam whispers. His words make my head spin. His scent makes me want to push him
back on my bed and rub myself all over him like a cat in heat.
My entire body breaks out in goose bumps. Sam lets me go,
but he pens me in against the wall with an arm either side of my head. He runs
the tip of his nose along the side of my neck. I close my eyes, wanting,
wishing with every cell in my body that he would just press his lips to my
skin. That he would take me in his arms and lay me out on the bed that Luke and
I had just mussed with our heavy petting. That he would possess my body the way
that he possesses my every thought.
His breath washes over the sensitive flesh below my ear. I
hold mine until it hurts. And then Sam’s lips press a warm, wet kiss against my
neck. His tongue darts out to taste my skin and the ache between my legs turns
to agony. With a grunt, Sam wedges his leg between my thighs. I let out a
startled cry. His lips trail my neck, my jaw, and then finally he takes my
mouth with his in a searing, hot kiss.
I must be losing my ever-loving mind. I’m delusional. I’ve
gone completely insane. This isn’t at all like kissing Luke. I don’t feel numb.
I feel alive. I feel as though our bodies were spiralling in opposite
directions, and now? Now, they’re moving as one, they’re connected, they’re …
right.
I rock my pelvis against him. His knee thrusts into the
hollow between my legs, pulling an involuntary moan from my mouth, and then Sam
pulls away. He skitters back, as if I’m the one who attacked him, and he rakes
his hands through his hair. “Fuck!”
Once again I’m stunned into silence as I watch his livid
expression and powerful body fill up my room with his fury. “That can never
happen again.”
“Sam—”
“Don’t.”
My Experience❤
Talk about one hek of a ride!! As a reader I can’t believe the
time that has passed, I can’t believe this is the end. The greedy non-writer in
me doesn’t want to believe this is the end of the series, but as it stands now it
is and Carmen Jenner has pulled all the punches; put in her time card and
delivered us one amazing book. True to her form, NLS is so snarky and sexy, but
also Carmen has went one step further and went into a place that’s a bit more
seductive in a frantic way.
We are brought back to Sugartown, years later to the adult lives
of Sammy Belle and Pepper Ryan. These two have grown up together and with a six
year age gap when life starts to get complicated so do their feelings. So when
adulthood opens up the opportunity to explore their feelings, Sam and Pepper
stumble thru only to wind up getting messy and Pepper takes off into the big
city. Fast forward a few years and Pepper needs to come back home. Back to the
normalcy, back to family and back to herself, but who is that? Pepper doesn’t
have a clue, but she’s certain that her level of crazy cannot be handled by Sam
who has never stopped waiting for Pepper. Only thing is Sam can do more than
handle her crazy, and OMG can Sam handle himself! He’s so hot. It just has to
be said. J
As per the usual Jenner style, I was completely consumed in this
story. From the cover reveal, to the snippets posted around social media, for
me to say that I was bouncing with nervous energy for this book to finally come
into my hands is a serious understatement. I literally stopped what I was doing
and reading to go back to Sugartown! If I could’ve jumped into my kindle I
would have!
Let’s talk about the magic of the writing. I already said this but
it bears repeating, I felt just as crazy pants as the characters in this book.
One minute I would be out loud laughing with the many outlandish ways that the
female anatomy is described to clutching my shirt in hopes to let my heart
break free of my chest to relieve the pain I felt. Let me also says how
fantastic it was to go into the deep allure of the undeniable chemistry ever
present everywhere in the book. And what’s more is the purposeful way Carmen
has broached the sensitive subject of a manic personality tied unconventionally
with wit, flair and sexiness. Harajuku style.
WOW. This review is all over the place. I apologize for it but I
won’t edit it because honestly, I loved everything about this book. I loved
every word of the Sugartown Series. I love every way Carmen pulls all the
feelings from me. I love how I’m constantly surprised with the twists weaved
into each plotline. I adore each and every character! The vivid way you are put
into a story by Carmen Jenner is a style that can’t be duplicated. Enjoy the Sugartown Series as I have. Share
them with everyone you know who loves to read. Respect them for the simplistic
Brilliancy they are.
