***Beguiling, Alex Lucian Release Day Blitz***

Hate: to dislike intensely or passionately; feel extreme aversion for or extreme hostility toward.

Scarlet Jennings, the preacher’s daughter who lived across the street, was a royal, uptight pain in my ass. When she looked at me, she saw a college quarterback asshole with rocks for brains, but she didn’t have a single word for what was happening between us.

When we were forced to ride together every single day that summer, there was definitely some dislike going on. Extreme hostility was a given, considering that we were spending so much time together in close quarters.
One night of bed-breaking, body-shattering, lose-your-voice-from-screaming passion had surprised us both, but it was only just the beginning…

I LOVE Alex Lucian’s writing.  When he hit the scene with Tempting, I knew, *KNEW* that he was an author to keep an eye on.  His second book Beguiling is no different.  I absolutely loved it.
The writing, the characters, the storyline…impeccable.  Beguiling was just as intoxicating as Tempting was but on a lighter note.  Where Tempting was more forbidden and a little bit darker, Beguiling was lighter, a little more comical with some fun, witty banter thrown in. (And who doesn’t love some witty banter between the hero and heroine…NO ONE THAT is WHO!)
Beguiling is a hate to love story.  Where the boy chases the girl.  Leo, the starting college quarterback, and Scarlet, the straight-laced preacher’s daughter, who knew that hate could be so hot.  The boy is persistent that is for sure, and Scarlet is just as obstinate to not let Leo crack her hardened exterior, and he only has 6 weeks to accomplish his goal.
Beguiling was a story that I dove into head first, and didn’t really come up for air until I was finished.

I fell in love with Leo and his charm.
I loved Scarlet and her firecracker personality.
I can’t wait to see where else Alex takes us.
He has proven that he can write a fabulous story, and I will follow him where ever he goes to get more of his words.

The Fire Between High & Lo RDB and Review

Title: The Fire Between High & Lo
Series: Romance Elements #2
Author: Brittainy C. Cherry
Genre: Romance
 Release Date: March 25, 2016

There once was a boy, and I loved him.

Logan Francis Silverstone and I were complete opposites. I danced, and he stood still. He was quiet, while I ran my mouth. He struggled to find a smile, and I refused to frown.

The night I saw the darkness that truly lived inside of him, I couldn't look away.

We were broken together, yet somehow whole. We were wrong together, but always right. We were the stars that burned across the night sky, searching for a wish, praying for better tomorrows.

Until the day I lost him. He threw us away with one hasty decision--a decision that changed us forever.

There once was a boy, and I loved him.

And for a few breaths, a few whispers, a few moments, I think he loved me, too.

I am sitting here, with my fingers hovering over the keyboard, willing the words to come out that will express my feelings for this book. To be honest my thoughts are everywhere. My feelings are someplace above me swirling around and they just can’t be brought forth.
A work of fiction.
Has made me feel like I was part of the story.
It’s no secret that I sit in awe when it comes to me reviewing Brittainy and her books. In my most honest opinion I think she gives her readers the very best stories that she can give, she has done that in the past, and this book is no exception. I fell into the lives of two very different people who just so happen to have a connection that could not be helped and watched how their lives unfolded over the course of years where the struggles were real, the darkness was intense, and the love that surrounded them didn’t always fix it all.
I didn’t know what kind of ending I would wind up in, I didn’t know who the hero would be. I didn’t know who would be still standing at the end. But as I’m still sitting here I know that all these “I don’t knows” and “the maybe’s”, are exactly what I was supposed to be thinking and feeling. The Fire Between High and Low is simply a great story. A rollercoaster ride that dips and swells at every turn of the page. A sequence of events that will take you on a journey of self-discovery and strength.
A reminder that at the end of the day, it’s who you walk home with that counts the most.
I can’t wait to see what book three will bring us!
*** Even though The Fire Between High and Low is a stand- alone within a series, do yourself a favor and read book 1 of the Elementals Series, The Air He Breathes. And while you’re at it, make sure you grab the rest of Brittiany C. Cherry’s books and read them if you haven’t already. She has a true beauty to her words that just grab you from the beginning and won’t let you go until… well I still carry her words with me now… many, many, MANY days later.

“I met my best friend in the checkout lane of a grocery store.  And my life was never the same again.”

This book is one that pulled me in from the first page.  It was one that made me forget to take notes of what I was feeling, as I was reading for my review.  I was taken hostage by the story, and at some points, I had to walk away from the slow burn that was starting in my soul, because I *JUST KNEW* all that was going to be left was ashes when it was over.

I was a junkie for these characters…afraid of how much I needed this story, so I kept pushing it away.  I didn’t want any more, but needed it just the same.  Brittainy shattered me like glass in all the best ways possible, and then put my pieces back together, and even though the pieces aren’t in the same spot they were before that is okay, because this story…these characters, Alyssa and Logan, changed me.
Their story, although painful to witness most of the time was so real.  I don’t even know how to put it into words.

Their pain…soul crushing.
Their love…soul consuming.

The Fire Between High and Lo is a story of taking the pain one grows up with, and turning it around; not allowing it to hold you captive.  It’s a story of second chances and redemption.  It’s a book that you want to read at a slow pace so you can soak it all up.  It’s a must read.

“From the ashes, they rose, and burned once again.  He never forgot her glow, and she never forgot him.”

AL Jackson, Where Lightning Strikes Review

A Bleeding Stars Novel Book 3
By: AL Jackson
Release Day March 22

Do you know what it feels like right before lightning strikes? How you can feel the current running through your veins? The trembles of warning that ripple through the air? It was a thrill Tamar King chased all her life until it became the very thing she had to escape.

For the last four years, Tamar King has hidden herself in an isolated world she created. She was safe. No one could touch her. Until Lyrik West walked through her door.
He’s the lead guitarist for Sunder and everything she can never have. The dark and beautiful rock star becomes everything she craves.
Lyrik’s life has been devoted to his band and that success has cost him. Bitter, hard, and filled with regret, he refuses to lose himself again, but from the moment he sees her, he wants one night with Tamar King.
The gorgeous bartender is more than he bargained for. Their attraction is consuming. Their desire overpowering. With one touch, they ignite.
But is it worth the cost of getting burned?
She’s a gorgeous nightmare and he’s a wicked dream…
WHERE LIGHTNING STRIKES, a Bleeding Stars Stand-Alone Novel

For one night, I wanted it. I wanted her secrets. I wanted to sink my fingers in and take for myself. She was the exact kind of contradiction I craved.
The push and pull.
But this time the pull was too great to ignore.
I traced my thumbs along the delicate slope of her neck. Dragged them across the soft, soft skin. Her pulse was racing with a violent beat. I forced her to look at me while my entire body ran hot.
“Tell me what you want, Red.” It slipped out in a rough murmur.
In the distance, thunder rolled. Those blue eyes flashed. Flashed with courage and fear.
Something about it made me shake.
Almost defiantly, she lifted her chin, and she reached up with her small hands and grasped me around the wrists.
“I want you to kiss me.”
Leave it to Red to ask for the thing I didn’t want to give. Memories cut a path of panic through my consciousness. Reminding me of what I’d done. Of why I could never get too close.
Of where my loyalty truly lay.
Clenching my jaw, I gripped her tighter. My heart was giving its all to reject this. Screaming at me to wise up and to do it fast. To turn my back and walk away. No doubt, my feet had officially crossed into the forbidden zone. Out of bounds.
Red was trying to take me places I didn’t want to go.
On the inside, I struggled like a goddamned madman. Torn between lashing out like I’d done the last time she’d been tempting me with the need to sink inside her, to discover the countless secrets she had lying underneath, and gathering her up and letting her in on all of mine.
I was at an all-out war with my instincts. The f*cked-up thing was I didn’t even know what those were anymore.
Not when it came to her.
Wavering, I rocked forward in indecision then rocked back. Getting closer to those full red lips with each pass.
Her attention flitted over my face. They jumped from my eyes to my mouth and back again. She fisted my suit jacket.
“What do you want?” she demanded, turning the question on me. Her voice was a brazen, needy mix of the siren who had no issue with putting me in my place and the soft vulnerability that kept seeping through.
My tongue darted out and swept across my bottom lip.
Dying for a taste.
“F*ck it.”
Figured she was going to kill me, anyway.

Where do I even begin with this book?

"Do you know what it feels like right before lightning strikes?"

Right from the very first sentence we get a sense that there is something brewing beneath the surface.  AL’s lyrical writing combined with the proverbial lightning strike on the horizon grips your heart and squeezes your lungs so tight, it hurts to breathe.  Reading this book was an intense feeling.  The imagery that an impending storm was coming puts you in the story and you can’t help but feel the nervous energy that would otherwise be felt during a real life occurrence.

Both the Hero and the Heroine are trapped in defining parts of their pasts that they refuse to let go of.  One is running and hiding from something that they fear, and the other refuses to let go of something that was out of their control.  My heart was shredded for both Lyrik and Tamar.  Both so deserving of a happy future, but with each of them having one hand on their pasts, and barely living in the present, neither of them know how to get to that happy, or realize that they deserve it.

Lyrik.  Oh, my sweet, tortured soul, Lyrik.  He carries so much weight on his shoulders, and burdens that he should have made amends with a long time ago.  The most important thing in his life is loyalty, and he holds on to it even when it’s the wrong kind.  He’s a typical rocker, and women (many of them) are his brand of poison.  He never lets them in close, that is until Tamar.  She is his beautiful contradiction.

“I loved a girl who wasn’t afraid to speak her mind while her body told an entirely different story.  That was the type of contradiction I craved.  The push and pull.  Hate bristling with want.”

Tamar.  She has some hardened edges, and she has had a rough past.  Particularly in the relationship department, and in order to keep everyone at bay, she refuses to let anyone get close.  In fact, she’s holding on to some pretty huge secrets that she refuses to let anyone in on.

“Sometimes fear shouts so loudly it drowns out everything else.”

When these two come together, it’s electric.  Just like lightning, and they have two choices…let that lightning strike burn them to the ground, or create something beautiful from the wreckage.

“Lonely recognized lonely.  And my heart recognized him.”

I don’t know how Amy does it.  Her writing is constantly raising the bar on the books I love to read.  The beautiful imagery she evoked with this novel made me feel as if I was watching a storm roll into the city, just knowing all hell was going to break lose, and the only thing you can do, is wait it out.

If you have never read anything from AL Jackson, I implore you to read this book.  Beautifully written, emotional from start to finish, it is truly a masterpiece, and so much more deserving than any review scale can give it.  There’s no amount of stars that could give it justice.

This book definitely ‘sings my soul’.
