Title: The Seer’s Lover (The Seven Archangels Series)
Author: Kat De Falla
For years, Calise Rowe has been able to
sense unusual energy from people, making her believe she is different.
Pulled into an ancient war raging for centuries between demon hunters
and seers, she’s about to find out she’s right.
Her search for the truth leads her to Lucas Rojas, a seer of angels and demons who walk the earth shrouded from normal human eyes. He’s hidden his gift for years and refuses to endanger Calise by sharing it with her.
In the sultry Costa Rican Jungles, their worlds collide. As their passion and desire ignite, so does the ancient war between demons and seers. Will their combined efforts be enough to save themselves and the entire human world, or will their new found love be their downfall?

She traced a circle in the sand with her finger.
Why would
she disclose her whole existence to someone she’d just met? Someone who
talked so little about himself that she found herself talking to fill
the void. Saying things she could barely admit in her own head.
His hand
covered hers. “I’m lonely, too. Getting to know you this week has been
the brightest point in my life and I don’t want you to leave, but I know
the only place you’ll be safe is far away from me.”
She swallowed. He had read her mind.
He lay
down on his back and closed his eyes. “Cali, you know when you hear a
song for the first time and you kind of ingest it? You can’t possibly
know right away that it will be one of your favorite songs for the rest
of your life. A classic.”
“Yeah.” She hoped he was going somewhere good with this.
“That
first listen,” he continued, “you pick up a little of the melody and
some lyrics that catch you. But when the song ends, you have to hear it
again because you want to memorize all the words and sing along. After
you hear it a few times and learn the words inside and out, then you
begin to let the melody seep inside you. Next thing you know, you’ve
completely digested the song and find yourself humming it while you are
doing nothing, like shaving or driving your car. Finally, the song
becomes so ingrained it becomes a part of you. Forever. You can recall
it and it’s with you whenever you need it. Am I making any sense?”
She nodded, blinking back the tears fighting to fall.
“Cali, I don’t want you to go back because you’re my favorite song.”
So what happens when your intuition is not just your
intuition? When gut feelings turn out to be right, when the sensation that
something evil lurks among us happens to be the truth? What happens when you
find out that the ideas, feelings, and thoughts that made you seem crazy were
based on a deeper understanding of the world around us? Calise Rowe is about to
find out that the world she thought she knew is nothing but a shade dimming out
the truth and the people closest to her are not who they seem.
Calise or Cali has always had a sense for things, a bad
feeling about someone or a calm feeling about someone else. During one late
night at her job she has a run in with not one but two strangers that turn her
world upside down and send her on a journey to Costa Rica to find out her true
nature. A journey that will take her down a path where there is no turning back
and going forward could cost her, her life.
But Cali is not alone and on her journey she meets Lucas. A
sexy sun-kissed delectable man with secrets of his own and a connection to
Cali’s quest for the truth. As her and Lucas continue to get closer to each
other they find it hard to resist the connection that burns between their
hearts and soon Lucas is met with a decision. Protect Cali from the truth and
send her away from him or help her to understand what she has always felt, that
Demons and Angels walk among us and she has been given the gift to sense the
difference. As Cali learns more about
Lucas and the gifts they share she is dragged further into the war between good
and evil, one that will test every ounce of her courage and strength of the
love in her heart.
There were so many things to love about this book. This book
had a fantastically creative plot. I loved the linkage between the present and
the past especially how De Falla utilized the stories from the bible. I think
it provided a very strong foundation for many of the aspects of the story like
the artifacts, prophecies and Angelic names. I also loved the flashbacks in the
story; they flowed easily and allowed the reader to gain insight into the past
of the characters without detracting from the present storyline. It was just enough to satisfy the reader’s
curiosity into the characters’ history. The descriptions of the locations from
the weather, to the sights, sounds and smells were immensely well done. I could
literally hear, see and feel the ocean while I was reading.
So after all this you may ask why I didn’t give the book
five stars, so let me explain. Though
the plot was creative and the descriptions were phenomenal, I felt some things
in the book were rushed. There seemed to be a lot going on at all times of the
novel, it felt as if everything was always happening all at once without time
to breathe or actually take it all in. It was as if the book was action packed
to a flaw. At some points months would pass by between two chapters it just
moved a little too quickly for my liking. I wished there was more time spent on
the relationship development between Lucas and Calise. Though I felt their love
was genuine, in the novel it happened really fast and as a reader I wanted to
enjoy it more. I think De Falla could have lingered more on some of what was
taking place, I don’t want to go into too much detail as it would lead to
spoilers. But despite the quickly moving timelines and abundance of events
taking place the book is an enjoyable creative read, that will engage all your
senses and allow you to drift into a world filled with dreadful creatures and
divine beings.
Author Kat de Falla was born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin where she learned to roller skate, ride a banana seat bike, and love Shakespeare thanks to her high school English teacher.
Four years at the UW-Madison wasn't enough, so she returned to her beloved college town for her Doctor of Pharmacy and
is happily employed as a retail pharmacist where she fills prescriptions and chats with her patients.
She is married to her soulmate, classical guitarist, Lee de Falla and raising four kids together
ala the Brady Bunch.
She began her first full length novel on a blustery, winter night when an old man told her to watch her back, they were all around us and she was never to see him again.
She never did.
That night, she began to pen, THE SEER'S LOVER about a pharmacist who becomes a seer of those who walk among us...angels and demons which is available from
