Even when she won’t fight for us, I’ll
go to war for her…
Inside the Octagon, I have no fear. I’m
at home, in my element, inflicting pain onto men trained to hurt me just as
badly. Making them submit, knocking them out, maiming them, because it’s them
or me. And I choose them. Outside the Octagon, my only weakness is a
five-foot-two, classy as fuck woman that I’ve loved for most of my life. She’s
the one that brings me to my knees, fills my arms, my heart, and one day soon,
my bed. She makes me reckless. Volatile. I drink too much and try too hard to
fuck my way out of feeling—all because of her. Frankie De Rosa is my girl, my
best friend. I haven’t earned her yet, but I won’t stand by and let anyone take
her from me. She will be the greatest fight of my life, but she’s worth the
battle. Love hurts, but anything worth having does, right?
I’m Deacon “The Hitman” Love — Welcome to the Cage.
I’m Deacon “The Hitman” Love — Welcome to the Cage.
“Tell me one time I haven’t been there when you needed me,
Princess. One time that I haven’t dropped everything to be by your side,
whether it was a dance, a plumbing problem, a broken heart.” My voice is
controlled now, but breaks when I say, “Except for this one crucial time, I’ve
always been your go-to guy. I couldn’t save you from him that night, but I’m
doing my best to save you from him now. I’m not here because I think it’s going
to get me into your pants quicker.” I’m disgusted with this whole conversation.
I place my palms on the table and lean toward her, forcing her to see me. “I’m
here because I love you. But I’ve always loved you. That hasn’t changed. Only
the way I love you has.”
She holds my gaze for a beat before glancing down at the
hands gripping her mug, “Please, I just need time to figure out what I want. If
this—” she moves her hand in between us, “is what I want.” Our eyes meet. I can
see the affliction in hers and I need out.
I straighten abruptly from the sting of her words and nod,
letting her know I hear her. Turning I stride out of the kitchen before I give
myself the chance to hurt either of us any more than I already have.
Because this book is that damn good, I was gifted an early copy, well let me just say 1st chapter in I was screaming at the girls that DEACON NEEDS TO BE READ NOW! So for a special treat you get to read 2 reviews from myself and Jamie.Enjoy

I will
start my review honestly and with every molecule of my being to let you know
that Love Hurts IS a MUST READ and will be on my short list of Personal
Favorites of 2015. Obviously if you are still reading this and you haven’t
either one-clicked or scrolled on to the next 5 star review, I am going to tell
you why I love Deacon, Frankie, and Mandi Beck.
Alright, so
most of us that don’t live in a cave know the baseline of this plot is not
original, MMA fighter, cocky, sexy, confident; underlying all those adjectives
for this HOT as I don’t know what man is that one endearing quality; loving
fiercely and doing anything in the world for the people he loves. What is
original is the process and delivering of Love Hurts. Set in first perspective,
we are slammed into the grown up lives of a tight nit “blended family” of
sorts. A family that works hard for each other by supporting each other’s
dreams and successes and positively weaving their dreams together to make their
world financially well off. Deacon and Frankie have always known each other and
have been close, always looking out for one another. When feelings start to
develop that become more than familiar love they both repress them, but when
Deacon can’t find it in himself to fight for those feelings to stay hidden he
decides to let them fly and does whatever he has to do to make Frankie, his
Princess, his in every way.
“Even
when she won’t fight for us, I’ll go to war for her.”
Frankie
loves the “Hit Man” but does she really want to give into her feelings that she
has for him and risk losing her best friend, her rock, the one person who is
always there for her, no matter what it takes?
“My
emotions are all over the pace as it is. Add to that him standing there
barefoot and shirtless, my name inked into his skin…He can’t throw his feelings
at me right now. He can NOT.”
Once you start
from page one, get ready for this do or die love story that will leave you down
for the count and make you beg for mercy it’s so sexy. Mandi Beck has grasped
that edgy writing that has definitely made her “That author that needs to be
read” with her witty words and successfully giving you the angst you didn’t
know you craved. I think what I enjoy most about Ms. Beck’s writing is that she
succeeded in portraying these characters as if I knew them for years and lived
on their street hanging out, being part of the family. If you haven’t started Love Hurts by now, what
are you waiting for? Catch up already!!
5+++

“There
is no turning back for me. She’s my forever, my mother**king end game. I’m
done. The Princess owns me.”

I was not prepared for how much I would love this book, and how much it would consume me. Since finishing, it seems that Deacon and Frankie are all I can think about. This was a fabulous book from an author that I can't wait to read more from.
I was consumed with this book from the first page, and I would have read it all in one setting if real life wouldn't have gotten in the way. The words flowed so easily, and I felt like I was a part of the story watching everything unfold. I felt the heart clenching pain that both Frankie and Deacon were going through. It was real and it was relatable.
Deacon Love is a cage fighter. Frankie is a dancer. Frankie has always been Deacons, even though neither one of them realized it. When Deacon finally decides to tell Frankie how he feels heartbreak ensues, and while on the road an unspeakable tragedy happens. Deacon is trying so hard to hold on, to show Frankie how much they need to be together, and it seems all she wants to do is let go. These two are in a back and forth, Frankie afraid that her friendship with Deacon will be damaged, and Deacon trying to prove to Frankie that taking the leap with him into a relationship is worth the risk.
