Killer. Criminal. Sociopath.

All of these words have been used to describe me, and for the longest time I believed that that’s all I was.

I’m the man you call in to clean up your mess, assuming your mess is a guy who needs a bullet to the head. I’m the man the MC calls when they want their dirty work done.

I’m the man who doesn’t feel.

Until now.

Until her.

Now my mess is a woman who won’t save herself. I’ll fight like hell to save her, but at what price to the club? And at what cost to me?

Warning: TANK contains graphic violence, profanity, drug use, and explicit sexual situations that may be a trigger and cause some readers emotional discomfort. Intended for an 18+ audience only. Not intended for pussies.

“So, the usual?” Louis asks.

“Yeah.” Tank intervenes by knocking Louis’ arm away when he tries to hand me a menu.

I glare at the obnoxious arse. “I don’t get to decide what I want?”

“Nope.” He smirks, and it’s quite possibly the millionth one I’ve seen today. “I know exactly what you want. You just need to trust me.”

“Okay then,” Louis says. “Coffee?”

“Yes,” I practically shout. “The strongest you have.”

Tank shakes his head. “Get her a latté.”

I swear if looks could kill, Tank would be burnt to a char right about now. No one takes my coffee from me and lives to tell about it.

“Your system doesn’t need any more stimulation.”

“It’s caffeine, Tank, not cocaine,” I argue. “I’m pretty sure I’ll be okay.”

He shrugs, and Louis glances nervously between us again. He looks as though he wants to flee. Tank has that effect on a lot of people. Then again, it could be the fact that I just admitted to being a junkie and at any second he’s expecting me to break out my stash and start snorting lines off of his fancy table. Louis says, “Okay, so latté it is then.”

“No, I want—”

“I’m sorry, sweetheart, but your man is too scary to say no to.” He backs away from the table, shouting, “But don’t you worry, it’ll be the best latté you’ve ever tasted. You just sit tight.”

“He’s not my fucking man,” I shout back, drawing the attention of every patron in the room, which is really only two other people, not including Louis and Kerri. I look around sheepishly and then wrap my arms around myself, turning my attention back to Tank. “Stop fucking smirking, you arsehole, or I’m walking.”

“Try it and see how far you get, Warrior Princess.”

“I’m betting I’d at least get halfway down the street before you caught up to me.”

“You wanna test that theory?” He challenges with a grin, though his gaze warms me head to toe with its intensity. “My money says you’ll make it to the door before I drag you back to the table, put you over my fuckin’ knee and spank your arse ’til it’s red raw.”

I let out a deep, shaking breath and lick my lips. Jesus Christ do I want that. I want it so fucking bad. My nipples turn rock hard and Tank’s gaze drops to my black singlet. I’m suddenly hot, wet, and hyper aware of his lingering gaze. This man is going to be the death of me.

Going into this story, one that I have been waiting on, I had some kind of knowledge how gritty it was going to be. Having read the first book in the Savage Saints MC series I knew from experience just how dark the places I would go in order to finish the story. Being a complete fan of Carmen Jenner’s previous work, I had no doubt that I would wind up loving this book. What I didn’t know is exactly how hard it would be for me to finish Tank. Carmen Jenner wrote a preface in Tank; important Information that will lead the reader to understand what some of the content would include. This preface, don’t take it lightly, she isn’t joking or pulling any jabs. Tank is rough. You have to be strong in mindset to handle some of the situations in this book. And the only negative thing I have to say about Tank is that I am so sad, and my heart hurts to know that there are people in this world that are so evil and led astray to be able to have inflicted this type of hurt upon another individual, no matter the scale.. I am sad that Carmen had it in her to pull from experiences, whether in whole or part, whether from personal or from others to write this fictional tale that can be real. I wish none of these horrors on my worst enemy.
I stand in ovation that you, Carmen Jenner, can write with such fluidity and without bias to tell such a story that in spite of the darkness, you can still shed some light, and it’s that hope that keeps us all going whether it is fictional or in our memories.

The air around me still feels like a cage.

Tank= Death. That’s who he is. Without apology or second guessing. He is the spawn of evil, Tank is evil himself. He wasn’t always that way. He did know love, but even that love came with hurt. And with that hurt came resolve and strength. Detachment. Even if you are the strongest person mentally or physically, everyone has a weakness. Tank’s weakness is Ivy. Ivy whom I don’t even understand how she is a survivor. How she can still find that little piece of hope is inspiring and even when she thinks she isn’t a fighter, you find her fighting to get another sliver of light.

My heart is just too dark to care.

These two have seen so much blackness, pure darkness, that I can’t even grasp the magnitude of it. What I can understand is the desire to do whatever is necessary to keep the ones that are your people safe and that’s what Tank does. Ivy’s smile was taken from her long ago and in place was a will to not care. A will to keep the memories away. But Tank being the stubborn man he is also having a delicateness inside him that he keeps locked, takes it upon himself to show Ivy that there are still some things to smile for. Met with resistance, Ivy sees what’s in front of her and when the time comes for her to fight against the rock that bears her scars… I don’t know if she can do it.

Secrets in my skin.

The first 80% of Tank goes right along but you will come to an abrupt halt for the last 20%. Well at least for me it did. We are again in the MC world, in the club world where all things are dirty. True to form Carmen brings her snarkiness at times to lift your heart just a bit only to be smacked right back down. You will get glimpses of abuse and rape and debasement. When you hit 20% to go, this is when the ride really starts. Strap on and pull those big girl panties up, this is where I broke and emotions were everywhere! I loved every word I read! I hated every word I read. I was in wonder of every word I read! How can I love this book? I love this book simply because despite all the bad things, despite all the good things, I could clearly envision every single setting and object, I could feel every emotion and that right there does it for me. That’s what makes a great story and a great writer. I am truly amazed, grateful, and have pure joy that I can read these kinds of stories. I nod my head to Carmen Jenner. With anticipation I look forward to her next story and where it will lead me.

I never claimed to be a saint.

**Blogger note~ I was given an advanced readers copy in exchange for my honest experience with Tank. Coincidently when I sat down to write my review I just happen to be listening to Snuff by Slipknot. So the little breaks in between this review are lyrics to the song and I make no claim to them. Just an effort to infuse art with art.
