Warning: Graphic sex and violence. Age 18+ only
Her life is like a prison cell.
A self-made,
to-hell-with-the-free-world existence that locks from the inside.
Stop judging. Her agoraphobia
doesn’t define her. It simply keeps her safe.
He belongs in a prison cell.
The 6x8, make-me-your-bitch variety
that locks from the outside.
But he’s free. To hunt. To take. To
break.
And he just found a sexy new toy.
Capturing her is the easy part. Her
fucked-up mind, however, makes him question everything he does next.
But he’s a determined bastard. If
all goes his way, this will hurt like hell.

“Are you
going to cut me up in little pieces?”
A cold smile
tipped his lips as he chuckled. Then his expression sobered. “Walk to the
kitchen.”
Fucking
psychopath. He stood right in the doorway, taking up the whole damned hall. At
over six feet tall with a muscled body cut from stone, he could squash her
without breaking a sweat. She didn't want to go near him. He was terrifying.
But being forced outside was worse. She straightened her back and headed toward
him.
As she slid
by, his arm caught her waist and yanked her back against his chest. She slapped
at his hand, bucking against him, and his arm clenched tighter. His erection
jabbed against her backside, his breath hot at her ear. “Fighting and squirming
only turns me on. Don't stop.”
She
immediately stilled. God, he wasn't lying. His dick was undeniably more
pronounced against her back. Feeling him like that, so close, so huge and hard,
rushed heat between her legs and prickles over her skin. Why, oh why was she
responding this way? She hated and wanted it, and mother of all fucks, she
couldn't have been more completely and totally out of her mind.
She drew a
ragged breath. Think, think, think. But his intention blatantly rubbed against
her, scattering her thoughts. “You're going to rape me, aren't you?”
His torso
moved up and down with his breath. “I thought you wanted to be fuck buddies.
Don't make it weird.”

Java, tobacco, and dark romance novels are her favorite
indulgences, and might be considered more unhealthy than her aversion to sleeping,
eating meat, and dolls with blinking eyes.

There aren’t a lot of words to describe the intensity of
this story told throughout these two books but I will just lay out a few. It’s
scorching hot, painful, passionate, violent, despicable, broken, loving,
fierce, protective and consuming. Though Ms. Godwin states you can read these
books as standalones I don’t think any reader should. The story read seamlessly
from book 1 to book 2 has a greater impact then if they are read alone
especially since Vanquish is the aftermath of the some of the actions taken in
Deliver.
In Deliver we meet Liv, a tough, relentless yet tortured
“Deliverer” of sex slaves. She has set her eyes on the most righteous of prey
based on the request of the latest buyer, that prey being Joshua Carter. Joshua
Carter is a wholesome loving boy, a successful athlete and outstanding student
with a family and community that love him dearly. Liv knows this and yet she
takes her chances abducting him with the help of her lover/abuser/kidnapper
Van.
Liv is used to the role forced upon her. Play the master,
break the prey, make them obey and willing to please. No remorse, no looking
back, no fear and no compassion. She does her job in order to keep the people
she cares about most in her life alive as well as herself. But when she takes
Joshua Carter as her next target it appears Liv has met her match and Joshua
may be the one to break her. Joshua has lived a very strict and innocent life.
Aiming to please his parents he has never faced temptation that could corrupt
his soul until Liv. But as Joshua plots his escape and possible vengeance Liv
turns out to be the one temptation he can’t deny. Together the two of them form
an unbreakable bond. A bond built form hate, obsession, compassion, love and
fierce loyalty. A bond that may just save them both.
The beginning of this book is rather brutal there are many
intense scenes that include forced sexual acts, bondage, slave/master
scenarios, violence, and mental anguish. I was literally cringing and my heart
was constricting during some of the scenes. But these scenes are important, there
important to see the resolve of Joshua and the painful truth about Liv. They
help the reader understand the emotions running through both characters; the
fear, the awe, the compulsion and the undying attachment that these two form
for each other. Their like a lifeline for one another. There are several twists
and turns in this book that will keep you on your toes as well as some
eye-popping revelations. The writing is flawless and even its darkness its
shines beautifully. I have read some heavy dark erotic romances but this one
takes the cake for me and its gets all the stars from me.
In the second book Vanquish we are privy to the story of
Van. After certain events take place in Deliver Van is forging his own path in
life. A path leading away from his horrid past. A path that leads him right to
Amber. Amber suffers from intense phobias and OCD behavior that consume her
life making it difficult for her to even have one. When her path crosses with
Van she learns that there are greater things to fear then ill arranged books on
a shelf. Van sees Amber initially as a conquest but slowly it is Van’s own
compulsion to fix what he has broken that transforms him from Amber’s tormentor
into her savior.
Again as with Deliver there are some very intense scenes not
for the faint of heart. Van knows only violence and brutality and in the
beginning that is what we get from him. But stay with it folks because Van is
going to make you fall so hard for him you won’t even realize how deep in the
darkness you have journeyed. Van is just amazing, there is something so
beautifully broken about him that you just can’t fight the attraction. He is alluring, dark, mysterious, honest,
dangerous and delicious. He will make you hate him and then make you love him
all in the same breath. Amber is a fighter but she is also vulnerable making
her the walking dichotomy that Van needs in his life. His desire to own and
cherish are conflicting terms in his head but Amber offers him the answer to
both.
This book is poetic in his brutality and fierce in its love.
Van’s story is sexy and sinister, threatening and protective and angry and
remorseful. There is sorrow and happiness just as there is darkness and light.
I loved the writing in this book as well. Pan Godwin knows exactly what words
to use to grab your attention and squeeze your heart. She knows how to make her
readers want more even after they feel like they have had enough. I love the
changing POV’s in the story, they are effortless and easy to follow. I more
than enjoyed this book and we got to hear Van’s story. Five flippin amazing
stars from me!!!!
