My name is Marie Aberdein. Two hundred and fifty years ago, one windy night near Culloden, I lost my everything by the hands of the MacLeods. The man I loved against the laws of nature. The child we created together. My life. The MacLeod Hunter made me a blood-thirsty monster, and if I barely salvaged my soul, it is burdened with sin and sorrow. But now has come the time to inflict a wound for a wound, a burning for a burning, and take a son for a son. Now has come the time to take Gabriel MacLeod’s life. Only Gabriel is more angel than demon. His heart is warm, his spirit fierce, and his soul loyal. With Gabe, I want to remember love. Only it is not a memory, it is the truth, our truth, one his kind and mine will not let us survive.

Sound is an abstract concept for most people. We spend our lives blocking out the static in order to focus on what we believe is important. But what if, when the clarity fades into silence, it's the obscure background noise that you would give anything to hold on to?

I've always been a fighter. With parents who barely managed to stay out of jail and two little brothers who narrowly avoided foster care, I became skilled at dodging the punches life threw at me. Growing up, I didn’t have anything I could call my own, but from the moment I met Eliza Reynolds, she was always mine.  I became utterly addicted to her and the escape from reality we provided each other. Throughout the years, she had boyfriends and I had girlfriends, but there wasn't a single night that I didn’t hear her voice.

You see, meeting the love of my life at age thirteen was never part of my plan. However, neither was gradually going deaf at the age of twenty-one.

They both happened anyway.

Now, I'm on the ropes during the toughest battles of my life.
Fighting for my career.
Fighting the impending silence.
Fighting for her.

Every night, just before falling asleep, she sighs as a final conscious breath leaves her.

I think that's the sound I'll miss the most.
 EXCERPT
"That wasn't yours to take away," he exploded into the otherwise silent night. His words echoed off the surrounding buildings, each wave slicing me to the quick all over again. "That was our place. Not yours." His voice cracked right alongside my heart.
"Yeah, well, there was a lot of stuff that wasn't yours to take either." I held his gaze, desperately trying to be strong, but as his eyes grew wide, I whimpered.
His long legs strode forward, stopping only inches away from me. He was crowding me, but he still leaned in closer to my face. "There is nothing in this world that was ever more mine than you," he stated. Though it was the absolute truth, I wished with all my heart that it were a lie.
"Till," I cried, swiping the tears from my eyes.
"Why!" he shouted, causing his muscles to tense under the force. "Goddamn it! I needed that place."
Porch lights flashed on from the surrounding apartments, illuminating not only the dark but also my rage.
I shoved my hands into his chest. "What about what I needed? You left! I waited in that fucking apartment for weeks."
He didn't budge, but my bare feet slipped, sending me toward the ground. Impossibly fast, Till's hand snaked out and caught my arm. I didn't let his chivalrous gesture douse my fire. I had six months’ worth of words to say to the man I was irrevocably in love with.
"You took what you wanted. Then you left me."
"Doodle," he whispered.
I had been perilously close to the edge of insanity, and with one single word, he’d pushed me over.
I lost it completely.
Pounding my fists against his chest, I screamed at the top of my lungs, "It's Eliza! My name is fucking Eliza! Not Doodle!" I spun to march away, but Till's arms folded around me, lifting me off my feet to restrain me.
I was miniscule compared to him. There was no use in fighting, but I still kicked my legs, irrationally desperate to get away from him—but only because I knew I couldn't keep him for forever.
"Stop it!" he growled into my ear. "I know your Goddamn name—probably better than I know my own."

Falling in love with Jack was easy, but there is nothing easy about staying in love with Jack Storm, arrogant rock star, while settling into a new life in Los Angeles. The story of rock couple Jack and Marissa continues. For Jack, Marissa and Tristan in his life changes his outlook. He feels needed. He welcomes the responsibility of a family. He embraces the love and companionship. Quickly, he whisks his son and the intriguing woman he had never forgotten to his home in LA. To Marissa, her future seems as mysterious as dusk’s shimmering shadows beneath the surface of the luxurious guitar shaped pool. There is no doubt this could be her dream house, her dream life with the man she loves. Not so dreamy is all she is beginning to see packaged with him. The crazy hours of a very active life. The garbage behind the glam. Mostly, a moody and presumptuous rock star whose public persona is opposite of the sweet musician she fell for. This full sized novel can stand alone, but is greatly enhanced by reading Eye of the Storms.

Excerpt

When the next text came, I jumped in excitement. JACK Pulling up now. Meet me outside? 3:01 AM
Hitching my robe tighter, I started from the room in stocking feet. On a whimsy, I stopped by the guest room for, and pushed my feet into, the pair of shoes I’d worn to his drop party. Mindful of my heels and my excitement, I carefully descended the stairs even though I wanted to run. As I neared the landing, I clutched the bannister with both hands and practically leaped the last two stairs. Tearing the front door open, I pulled up short upon seeing it. In the shadows of the night, Jack was leaning against the red Lamborghini limo. He was even hotter than he ever had been, if that were possible. Maybe it was because the fantasy limo was his backdrop. Maybe he exuded an overload of charisma from being on tour. Maybe it was because I had not seen him in more than a week. All I knew for sure was seeing him sucked the breath into my chest before it whooshed out again as if I had been sucker punched. Although his features were shadows from the driveway lights, I could feel his heated perusal. His arms had been crossed over his chest, and they fell to his side as he vaulted the stone steps, two at a time, toward me. A steady breeze was blowing, and I twisted my head so that my face was clear of my hair. Holding my robe as I continued down to him, I enjoyed the tingle buzzing through my body as I watched his hair billow about. We crushed together, and wound together. I breathed him in as my lips moved against his chest and clamped my arms tightly around him as he nearly cut off my airflow with his own embrace. My feet left the ground, and for a second, I was spinning before he set me down and our lips came together. The fiery kiss raged, we melded tight together, and our hands roamed, leaving tingling trails. “What are you wearing, Mariss?” Jack reclaimed his tongue long enough to speak, but was back to kissing me before I could answer. His hands had inched up the silky robe. Beneath the fabric, they alternately groped and caressed any skin left exposed by the lingerie. Fingers glided down, toying with the stockings. Taking a step back, I made one of the boldest moves ever in my life. Especially considering this house was prone to tree lurkers, and there was surely a driver in the limo. In one smooth motion, I had the silken belt untied, and my body shrugged from the silky shroud. Neither of us took notice of the robe catching the wind like a kite, or if it landed. I was too busy glowing beneath Jack’s heated gaze, and Jack was too busy stroking me from head to toe with those dark eyes. “Holy shit, Mariss… Just…holy fuckin’ shit…” He swooped and I was in his arms. I didn’t notice we were going down the stairs, instead of up, until I was settled in the limo. Jack was immediately on me for another one of those mind-bending kisses. When his lips left mine, I melted into the seat, enjoying the friction of his hands over my skin, and his wandering kisses. We were so sex starved that it was barely five minutes later when his hopeful inquiry was a pleasurable mummer against sensitive skin, “Please tell me it’s been long enough?” “It’s been long enough.” In response, for the first time since that shower five years ago, there was no scramble for a tiny foil packet. Actually, I was three days short of the recommended time for the pills in the little plastic case to get in my system, but I wasn’t worried. His unrestricted pleasure came in a loud groan and curse, then sweet seductive words. Every movement was soon pleasurable beyond words… The feeling of him completely coming inside me for the first time—unbelievable.
