My Review

“I don’t give myself time to think about it before I dial the number on the card. She answers on the second ring, her voice like silk and I know that life as I know it is about to come to a disastrous end.”
What a great escape! I literally didn’t move until I was done!
This stand alone is the perfect example of why I can always get lost in this authors’ words. Beautifully written even when speaking of the taboo, the minute you start from page one you’re hooked.
Jackson and Sage’s initial meeting isn’t one that normally happens but when you’re stuck between a rock and a hard place, you may just turn to drastic measures. They just never thought it would be more than business. When I first started into the story Jackson was an experienced SOB but the more you got to know him, you realize that’s just a façade. Sage is that sweet young woman who is naïve enough to go to the dark side and get caught up in survival. However the chemistry between these two is undeniable and full of so much more.
I loved reading and getting to watch as Jackson and Sage opened up their layers and started allowing themselves to just be. Contractual started out as one book then developed into another, evolving into a sweet, satisfying HEA. If you haven’t picked up anything by Alice yet, now is the time. You won’t be disappointed.

I shift closer to him and wrap my arms around his waist. I lay my head on his chest and breathe him in. His shoulders relax, if only slightly. The need to comfort him is overwhelming. I want to wash it all away for him, hold the world at bay while I erase the worry permanently etched in his forehead. “Everything is going to be okay, West. I just know it,” I lie. I don’t know that everything will be okay. I don’t know anything at all. We sit in electrified silence, the crackling of dead leaves under us the only sound. I memorize the feel of him, the smell of him, the rhythm of his breathing. I’m lost in the moment, already anticipating the loss that’s to come. “I leave in a month.” The words cut through the silence like a judgment. Instead of hurt, I’m filled with resolve.
