*WARNING* This novel contains explicit language, sex, drugs, violence, and sexual situations that some might find offensive. This book is intended for adults 18+ years of age. This story might be considered dark to some readers...

In my world, there is no such thing as love. It is just a lie we whisper into our client’s ear. Love is foreign and hazardous. What I did not expect was to bare my soul to a man who is as egotistical as he is dangerous.
His name is Landon. Despite his blackened soul, he tried to save me, but what he didn't expect was my torturous fate to catch up with me.
To your father, I'm the escort.
To your mother, I'm the whore.
To the legal system, I'm the prostitute.
In the end, I'm just the other woman.
I have no idea if I will continue to survive, if I will ever find my path aside from the gritty streets I know so well. There is a good chance I will wind up in the ditch like most women in my position. Surrendering to my fate is the only choice I have. I must relinquish it all.

“What do you think you’re doing?” I question, my words muffled from arousal. He doesn’t respond, just caresses his lips along the sensitive skin of my neck seductively, causing my head to loll to the side. A rush of desire races through my chest, and my breathing picks up.
“We can’t, remember? You’re my pimp, and I’m you’re escort. Rules,” I whimper, reminding him of his words from last night.
He growls, the sound of his teeth grating.  “Don’t ever call me that,” he rasps into my ear. The heat of his breath causes me to moan. He turns me around and picks me up, his fingers digging into my dress-cladded thighs.
“What if you’re not my escort right now? No rules,” he breathes heavily, placing me down on his desk.
“Like, pretending?” I question, digging my heels into his ass, pushing him closer.
“Exactly,” he whispers, brushing my hair from my face. “Just two normal people.”
“How do normal couples meet? What do ordinary people do when they’re together?” I murmur, not having the first clue how a normal couple does things.
Landon slides his hands up each of my thighs, pushing my dress up quickly, revealing my smooth legs and thighs.
“We met on a golf course. I asked you out on a date,” he mutters, his words drawn out and heavy with his harsh breathing as I undo his pants.
“I don’t sleep with a guy until date number three,” I inform him, my hands fisting his hard cock and pulling it free.  My mouth parts when I see it. I forgot how big, how thick it is. He hisses through his teeth as I slide my fingers along his shaft.
“Two, because you couldn’t resist me when I bought you some stupid necklace my shitty-paying job paid for,” he grunts. His hand dips below my dress and pulls my thong to the side, swiping a finger between my wetness, causing me to buck against his hand with an uncontrollable urge.

I’m dead.

I’m cold and alone and I’m dead. There’s no air in my lungs. My chest is as cold and hollow as a cave on a snow-capped mountain side. My heart no longer beats there. Frigid winds whistle through my ribs and the sadness inside me weeps like my favorite tree.

Days ago, I met with death face to face. The mirror, our meeting place. My two darkened green eyes stared deeply into hers. I tilted my head to the side. She did too.

“It’s time,” I whispered.

“It’s time,” she whispered.

And with that I turned away from her, the woman in the mirror who knew all of my secrets and all of my pain. I walked away from her and yet we’d never been closer than we were in that moment. The inner struggle was over. No more arguing with the woman in the mirror. No more arguing with myself. The choice was made. She was the victor. Or was I?

That was the day Riah Winter died.

Q1: What inspired you to write Riah's Story?
The stigma that surrounds mental illness and suicide inspired this book. I wanted to crack the reality of these things wide open. It needs to be talked about. People like Riah need better resources to deal with depression and other mental health issues.
Q2: How do you think your readers will react to this story, what do you hope they will take away from going through this journey with Riah?
I think readers will find a part of themselves within the story. I think it will be an emotional journey through the pages of this book for any reader. I didn’t hold back at all. It’s raw and it’s real. I hope the reader takes away a new perspective on life.
Q3: Are there any similarities that readers will notice or should expect between the themes/vibe of this story and Therapy?
The main theme that both books focus on is mental illness and the truth of what it is for people who live like Riah or Jessica.
Q4: Do you believe that writing stories of this nature, ones that have such intense emotional struggle, can sometimes take a toll on an Author or does this type of writing become somewhat therapeutic?
I prefer to write something that is deeply emotional. I want to make readers feel. I want them to walk away from my stories and feel changed in a way. Writing emotional stories are always therapeutic for me.
Q5: What style of writing should the readers expect? i.e. Will the story have multiple POVs, will the reader experience both the past and present as it happens or will the past be told through Riah's recollection?
You do get more than one POV. As far as the rest I won’t say. I prefer the reader to experience it without knowing anything else. This story is constructed in a very different way than anything else I have written before. It also has many metaphors and you will find a lot of lyrical writing throughout the book.
Q6: Will LWIW just be a standalone or do you feel there may be characters in this novel that you could expand on in another story similar to how you are doing for Kingsley? (just a general yes or no and why is fine, I am not asking you to give up the goods with any specific names ;) )
It’s a standalone.
Q7: Did you learn/gain anything from writing Riah's journey and bringing it to life?
I think my writing grew a lot with this book. It was a challenge to get this story out the way I had it in my mind and I am proud of the end result.
