Killing vampires is easy. Trusting one will be the hardest thing Dahlia Sabin has ever done.
Dahlia has lived a lonely existence as a killer of the undead. Known as The Blushing Death to those that fear her, Dahlia uncovers a plot by Columbus's Master Vampire, Ethan. He intends to raise a demon from the depths of hell to destroy the city, cement his power, and take control.
In her pursuit to stop a demon from manifesting, Dahlia sinks deeper into the city's supernatural underworld and discovers that vampires are not only deadly; one in particular could be dangerous to her very soul and her heart. Patrick, the Master vampire's second-in-command with dark penetrating eyes and a cool, deadly sophistication, can't stay away and Dahlia can't tell him no. There's something that neither of them knows, Ethan wants Dahlia's unleashed power for himself and is willing to do anything to get it.
Dahlia is in a race against time to send the demon back to hell, at war with her better judgment, trusting a dark and intriguing vampire with his own agenda, while struggling to save her own neck. As the portal to hell opens, Dahlia has only herself to rely on in order to survive, if she can  . . .

*Also be sure to check out more action in the second book of the series with Dahlia Sabin, MIDNIGHT ASH.

I liked it, I really liked it!!! Dahlia our stunning spitfire killing machine in this book was born with some very special talents. She can see ghosts, but that’s not all, she can also feel power, magic and other wordly creatures. In her pursuits to rid the world of evil vamps and goons alike, she has a run in with a very dark and deliciously deadly vampire named Patrick. This meeting sets off a series of events that lead Dahlia into a bigger more sinister plan in the works and soon she has to trust the one person she thought she never could both with her life and her heart.

This book has some great elements. I am an avid reader of the paranormal fantasy genre and sometimes things get old or repetitive. I didn’t feel that way with this book. I loved Dahlia’s tough and hardcore attitude, she literally didn’t take crap from anyone and she not only kept fighting when all the odds were against her but she did it with a vengeance. I loved her strength, and I loved that she was a match for Patrick both in her ferocity and desire. These two make a very powerful pair. Patrick is a no nonsense vampire who doesn’t waste time in his endeavors, he goes after what he wants without hesitation and I loved the pride that gleamed from him when it came to Dahlia. He never treated her like she was weak, he saw her as an equal from the beginning and it just intensified his desire for her AND holy guacamole if he isn’t just as hawt as they come!

The storytelling in this book is great, I loved the plot and the inclusion of the demon factors it gave this book more spunk and made the story thrilling. The writing was also filled with some awesome sarcasm and wit from almost all the characters. Dahlia’s character is a constant source of entertaining banter even in the face of death she still maintained her sarcasm and it was quite the scene. I also loved the nicknames in the book. Dahlia’s character has a tendency to name people she meets based on their appearance and the vibes they give off. Smarmy is by far one of the funniest name I have ever heard used in a book.

My only discord with the book is that it didn’t seem to provide enough background on how certain supernaturals were friends with each other which I would have liked to learn and I hope Sabol touches on in the next book in the series.

. This book has just about all you need in a good paranormal; hot supernatural beings, a kick-ass heroine, intense passion, some awesome action scenes and some magical mystery. A genuinely good exciting read!
