MY REVIEW
First I need to say, that if you don’t have this on your
TBR, you need put it there right away.
This book was nothing short of heartbreakingly amazing. The Charlotte Chronicles is all about young
love, firsts, heart break, and all of the gritty angst that goes along with it.
Nathan Jackson is Charlotte’s first love, first
everything really. Growing up together,
along with Nathan’s brother Nick, there was no separation between the
three. Nick was the big brother type,
and Nathan was the protector, and he knew Charlotte was destined to be with him
from the time she was born. Tragedy
strikes, and things are set in motion to take Charlotte half way across the
world, and ultimately to tear her apart from her one true love, her future.
This book was a rollercoaster of emotions starting from
page one. The Charlotte Chronicles put
my heart in a vise grip and didn’t let go.
The story was so raw, so real that I felt that I was a part of it from
the start. This is a book that will
definitely give you a hangover, and you will still be reeling from it a long
time after you put it down.
This is the first book that I have read by Jen, but you
can best bet it won’t be the last. I
absolutely loved the writing, and like I said above I felt like I was in the
story as it unfolded. This book is
nothing short of amazing, and I can’t say enough about it.
Really, 5 stars is NOT enough.
EXCERPT
But when I close my
eyes, I can see him—and me. I can see me pressed up against the mirror in the
bathroom, my hands making starfish prints as I brace myself against his
thrusts. I can hear his harsh breathing, his commands to come, come now,
Charlotte. There was that passage of time that felt endless when he was between
my legs, licking me softly and leisurely as if there wasn’t anything in this
world that gave him more pleasure than helping me find my own. I touch myself,
but it’s useless. My body wants one thing: Nathan Jackson.
I’m on fire and the
ache of want is so acute it’s like a knife in my chest. I’ve had multiple
surgeries, chemo treatments, radiation but that’s nothing compared to what I
feel now.
Time and distance
had dulled my pain and that my desire and love for Nathan had actually started
to ease only to be stoked into high, hot flames by his reappearance in my life.
He is the poison and
the antidote.
