I've broken him, bent him, and burned him, and each fevered moment was worth every ounce of pain.
Auburn Lawrence has loved her English teacher, Reed West, since she was fourteen. Through brainstorming stories, reading classic literature, and plenty of fiery banter, they've forged a bond that neither of them expected. Propelled by a chance encounter after her graduation, they discover just how deep their connection runs, but love requires more than chemistry to flourish. They spend three electrifying summer months discovering each other under a veil of forbidden passion and desperate lust before they learn that the unattainable is often destined to remain exactly that. By the time temperatures dip and snowflakes fly, their relationship will face a deep freeze that threatens to snap the bond they thought they shared, shattering their lives one secret at a time. Intended for mature audiences.
Rarely does that one book come along that seeps deep into soul and completely takes you by surprise. Lucky for us, Beautiful Burn is that book.
I was gifted a copy of this book by the author in exchange for an honest review and I still can’t believe what I read! Reading the synopsis my first thoughts were, “of course I want to read this”; the taboo subject of teacher/student romance and the writing style of Adriane Leigh, this will be a win win. Well, I cannot fully articulate how much of a complete surprise this book was to me. I started into this well written story, brilliantly flowing from beginning to end thinking that I had the plot all figured out and then BAM. I was gut punched, hand over my mouth, clutching my kindle, in a state of awe with what I was reading.
I will NOT tell you anything about this book. If I even hinted at what I really want to write I would give this beautiful story away, and I wish for everyone to read Beautiful Burn. It hooks you in from the first sentence giving you a wonderful world of forbidden love, secret rendezvous, throwing caution to the wind and living your life told in the first person thru the past, present, and future. Beautiful Burn will be one of those books that you will continue to recommend over and over again. 5stars.
"Reed West was one mistake I wanted to make."
"I've learned that love lies. I've learned that love breaks us. I've learned that love is a beautiful burn."
"She was forbidden and dangerous -- we were playing with fire and would without a doubt get burned, but I couldn't bring myself to leave. I was rooted and standing at the eve of my own destruction."
"I f*cking wanted to possess her. Own her. Make her scream and cum and beg for more. What the hell was I thinking?"
Adriane Leigh was born and raised in a snowbank in Michigan's Upper Peninsula and now lives amongst the sand dunes of the Lake Michigan lakeshore. She graduated with a Literature degree but never particularly enjoyed reading Shakespeare or Chaucer. Adriane is married to a tall, dark and handsome guy, plays mama to two sweet baby girls, and is a voracious reader and knitter.
