They say it
takes 21 days to form a habit.
They lie.
For 21 days
she held on.
But on Day
22, she would have given anything for the sweet slumber of death.
Because on
Day 22, she realizes that her only way out means certain death for one of the
two men she loves.
A haunting tale of passion, loss, and redemption, The Paper Swan is a darkly
intense yet heartwarming love story, textured with grit, intrigue, and
suspense. Please note: This is NOT a love triangle.
A
full-length, standalone novel, intended for mature audiences due to violence,
sex and language. Subject matter may be disturbing for some readers.
My Review
This book is by far one of the best books I have read
this year. The writing is so flawless,
and the story line is impeccable. I was
instantly consumed with Skye, who is instantly thrown into the pits of hell
when her world is rocked to its core.
She doesn’t know whether she will survive and is betting on the latter.
I loved how things that Skye was experiencing in the
present triggered flashbacks to her past that are so intense, she remembers
every minor detail. Which is where we
meet her childhood nanny MaMaLu, and her Esteban. Leylah Attar does an amazing job at painting
those flashbacks so vividly that you have no choice but to feel them along with
Skye.
Sky never stops fighting, and just when she thinks might
take a turn for the better her world is knocked off its axis again.
The Paper Swan is not for the faint of heart. But it is so much more than a story of
vengeance. It’s a story of friendship,
redemption, and salvation. I can NOT say
enough about this book. Read it!
Leylah
Attar writes stories about love - shaken, stirred and served with a twist. When
she's not writing, she can be found pursuing her other passions: photography,
food, family and travel. Sometimes she disappears into the black hole of the
internet, but can usually be enticed out with chocolate.
