O-negative is Marie Aberdein’s favorite treat and she hates herself for it.
But she hates the MacLeod Vampire Hunters even more. They stole everything from her. Twice. The first time, on the night of the Battle of Culloden, the Hunter killed her husband and their child. Marie has survived the last two centuries hidden away with the man she calls Father, keeping their vow never to feed from humans. But the latest Hunter—the direct descendant of her husband’s murderer—doesn’t care about their good intentions. All he wants is for their ashes to blow away in the wind, so he tracks them down and burns the only family she has left. Payback is long overdue. Marie has escaped the MacLeods’ clutches and she intends to make this lease of life count. Merely digging her fangs into the Hunter won’t do. She’ll take everything he holds dear, starting with his heir, History undergrad and rugby-playing Gabriel. Once she has Gabriel in the palm of her hand, she’ll rip out the boy’s heart. And make his father watch. Only Gabe is more angel than demon. His heart is warm, his soul loyal. He makes Marie feel like the girl she has never had the chance to be. A girl who wants to laugh, flirt, and be kissed. But allowing their love to kindle will clash against the beliefs that make them who they are. When Gabriel becomes the next Hunter at twenty-one, Marie will be one of the creatures he is destined to slaughter. And loving him means giving up her vendetta against his father—something she won’t do. Sin and Sorrow is a New Adult paranormal romance set at St.Andrews University in modern-day Scotland.

First I must say that I absolutely love this cover, its sensual, dark and sexy. Very nice choice.

So I was most fortunate and had the opportunity to read this book prior to release. It is my first read from Marion and I truly enjoyed every detail of this story. This book would be like the equivalent of Outlander and Interview with a Vampire having a book baby. The setting of this novel is in the beautiful landscapes of Scotland and Marion wastes no time in immersing her reader into every finite and breathtaking detail that makes up the backdrop of this book. The descriptions are fluid, tangible and stunning and only enhances the story as it develops.

The story being that of vampire Marie and soon to be Hunter and blood enemy Gabriel. Marie has suffered long and terribly at the hands of the Hunters, at the hands of Gabriel's direct descendants and Father and she has vowed to exact revenge. Calculating and sneaking her way into Gabriel's life, she plans to weave a web around his heart and strike till there is nothing left but pain and eventual death; a punishment fit for the Hunter's who killed both her husband and her "Father". But what Marie doesn't expect is the very thing that she vows to destroy, Gabriel. He is gentle, kind, compassionate, caring and all the things that his family is not. He causes a change in Marie that will alter her course, he heals her broken heart.

I love the development of Marie in this book. She goes through such a roller-coaster of emotion that she truly grows and shines throughout this story. Marion's writing is so vivid that you can feel every emotion pouring from Marie's heart, you empathize with her confusion, revel in her love, and suffer in her pain. I also love that she is not a weak heroine, she is equally as strong as her counterpart and never plays the damsel in distress. She endures all that life has thrown at her and even when she thinks she has given up on happiness she is able to open her heart to it again with Gabriel's help. Gabriel is also a very easily swoon-worthy character. He is gorgeous, intelligent, defiant, protective and capable of some of the most compassionate gestures despite his stern exterior. I loved these two together as they offered a sort of harmony and balance that was missing in each of them.

This book is both a great love story and thrilling adventure in revenge and sacrifice. I loved Marion's vivid writing and chapter transitions. her characters were well developed and likable. I look forward to possibly more in this tale ;)

Marion loves to share happy vibes, talk book crush, fictional boyfriends and sexual chemistry with like-minded people. And because she spends most of her days on her own deep inside her London writing cave, you are welcome to come and say “hello” from time to time. Just to make sure she doesn’t sink into insanity. Her friends, family and arch-enemies (there are quite a few) will be forever grateful for your help. Her debut novel, Oxford Whispers, a New Adult paranormal romance, won the IndieReader Discovery Award, 2013. Her contemporary romances, No Reverse and Fast Forward, were Amazon bestsellers, both in the New Adult and Kindle Top 50 charts.
